Plush Toy
takeo is a 22-year-old instrumentalist and beatmaker from Los Angeles, California. While in grad school studying computer science at university, much of his free time is spent in his home studio making mellow lofi hip hop beats. With past success alongside indie labels Lofi Girl and Chillhop Music - as well as collaborations with SwuM, Two Sleepy, Spencer Hunt, Jinsang, and many others - takeo (fka tysu) has his footing in the world of lofi but is still very early in his sonic narrative. He's grateful to have the opportunity to share his music with the world and hopes to continue expressing his passion for music in his future releases. Plush Toy is takeo's first album with Nettwerk Music Group and first LP in three years. The project follows takeo's 'Moving Colors' EP and brings you up close and personal to his intimate and relaxed sound. About focus track "play nice", takeo says it is "a sleepy beat with a calming nighttime atmosphere and relaxing piano melody that evoke a magical yet nostalgic vibe. The metronomic nature of the beat and the instrumentals would be a great fit for the 'chill lofi study beats' and 'lofi sleep' playlists. All the best and take care, Tyus." About album: "Each of the tracks are to remind you of simpler life--childhood," says takeo. "This project embodies the imperfections of lofi music, yet the cadence of life as it grows, slows, and seems almost forgotten in time. Personally, I love plushies and I have a few notable characters hanging around my bedroom. So, while this project is named after them, it's also a nod to the beauty of nostalgia, old friends, and moments we will never get back."
