standing hills
standing hills," says Towerz, "is about my time spent traveling through the various mountainous areas I've been in over the last year. The rustic mountains of middle New Hampshire represented by 'overcast'. The otherworldly terrain of Iceland represented by the song 'narrow aisles'. The rugged outcrops of coastal Greenland represented by the album title song 'standing hills'. As well as the rolling hills of the Azores in Portugal represented in 'loom'. "All the artwork and field recordings," he continues, "are meant to work together. Each song has recordings from the locations where the pictures were taken for the artwork of each particular tune. I wanted to make sure to do something cohesive to give the album a natural feel. I've moved 18 times in my life. For some reason not one of those places had mountains. So I've always been in awe of mountains. The last year has been quite a rough one. I always find solace in the peace and isolation of the mountains. This album is dedicated to finding isolation in order to find peace with my personal struggles.
