Smoke & Ribbons (Acoustic)
Accomplished singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon returns to his solo work for his project Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness with a nostalgic track about accepting the path you took to get where you are now and where you’re about to go. The acoustic version of “Smoke and Ribbons” is a different take on the original, which switches perspectives between verses that describe reliving certain moments from memory while the sing-along chorus is a reflection to a younger self that everything works out: “Hey now we’ll go on living after all the smoke and ribbons…I’ll write the words if you sing along.” Andrew says about that track that “you can’t undo the past. How boring life would be if you could. So write it down, sing and proceed fearlessly into the future. I think a lot of this music and this moment in my life has been aimed at more fully appreciating where I’ve come from in the interest of moving forward with a sense of peace.”
