A headline clash between two Clarisse titans, Mendo goes head to head with Techin, the Sao Paulo producer who has already made his mark on the label with ‘Doux Jazzy’ on Clarisse volume 7, and last year’s ‘Lola’ EP alongside Cahio. Mendo of course continues to roam the globe as one of the best in the business, serving his imprint in 2023 with a remix of ‘La Krika’ and teaming with Roxy Delgado, and Mene & Any Loida. 'Soul 2 Soul' is a thick cut of deep house where bass and drum dominate and direct you. Melody is marked by plinks of piano and synth fizzes passing through on the back of villainous vocal samples: hinting at an action-crazed drop, Mendo and Techin tell the world they shall not be moved. Keeping the bongo-topped beats strong and strapped with crowd-carrying muscle, this isn't one for those late to the party. 'Rock Rock' appears comparatively lighter and bouncier, the loop of its slurpy bassline chasing itself until dizzy, but mechanically hits the dancefloor with just as much hammer. Slurred and stammered vocals, telling the world to listen after one cocktail too many, wade through the vibe by tilting back and surfing the tempo, Mendo and Techin replacing the sparklers in your champagne bottles with rockets heading through the roof.
