The pictured line-up split up in 1989. Steve Grimmett resurrected the name in 2006, as Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper, with the members of his namesake solo band. Apparently there were legal issues that had prevented Grimmett from using the original Grim Reaper name, so his version of the band became Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper. Founding guitarist and principle songwriter Nick Bowcott now works for Marshall amplification/Korg electronics in New York. In the early '80s, Grim Reaper beat 99 other bands in a "Battle of the Bands" contest for studio time to record a demo, which led to them getting signed to Ebony Records. They released two albums on Ebony Records before getting picked up by RCA. RCA tried to promote Grim Reaper in the American market and they played the Hell on Wheels touring fest with Helloween and Armored Saint in 1987. Shortly afterwards, however, RCA dropped them. Even without a record company to support, Grim Reaper had already started working on a fourth album intended for release in either 1988 or 1989, rumored to be called "Nothing Whatsoever to Do With Hell". However, Steve Grimmett had accepted an offer to join Onslaught, which meant the end of Grim Reaper, and leaving the fourth album unfinished.
