Piero Piccioni, born in Turin in 1921, became interested in jazz at a young age and became a talented pianist without attending the conservatory. At the age of thirteen, he began composing songs and performed on radio programs in Florence. In 1938, at only seventeen, he made his radio debut as a pianist, and in 1944 he formed his own jazz orchestra, becoming one of Italy's first bandleaders.  In the 1940s, Piccioni had the opportunity to play with jazz greats such as Charlie Parker in New York, gaining recognition for his outstanding performances. Parallel to his musical career, he undertook studies in philosophy and worked as a lawyer.  Piccioni established himself as a soundtrack composer in the 1950s, writing music for numerous Italian films and collaborating with famous directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Francesco Rosi, and Alberto Sordi. He released numerous soundtracks for Cinevox Record, including "Adua and Comrades," "Checkmate to the Queen," and "Those Strange Occasions."   His compositions became famous and received numerous awards, including the David di Donatello and Nastro d'argento, confirming his talent and versatility in the field of music for film.
