THE PRIMALS
While drummer Andrew Black () and frontman John Henry came up together in the D.C. hardcore/punk scene, Henry and bassist Chad Fjerstad became acquainted in 2006 when their melodeath bands ( & ) accompanied each other on both U.S. and European tours. Eventually, the three members, each on their own individual paths, reconnected in Los Angeles. Henry brought a fresh sound to the table and quickly had his songs complemented by the pummeling percussive expertise of Black. In 2015, they added Fjerstad to the lineup and self-released a self-titled demo LP. As a trio, they shifted towards a slightly heavier sound while maintaining the pop sensibility of the early material. In 2017, they garnered the attention of the legendary John Reis (who would produce), and in turn, Southern Lord Records. On September 7th, 2018, their proper debut, "All Love Is True Love" was released.
